Institutional Credibility: Nigeria Customs Service Tasks Officers on Reputation and Credibility Management

The Nigeria Customs Service has taken a bold step towards reshaping Nigeria’s image with the public presentation of the Reputation Management handbook. The Book handbook aimed at guiding officers’ conduct and improving the public image of the agency.

Comptroller General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, says the time is right for this national project, which aims to highlight positive narratives about Nigeria and reinforce the image of customs officers as key ambassadors of the country’s reputation.

According to the Customs Boss, the initiative aligns with the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and calls on customs officers to go beyond revenue collection, embracing their roles as ethical, professional, and responsible public servants.

Adeniyi expressed confidence that with collective effort, the Nigeria Customs Service can lead the way in rebranding the nation through integrity, service, and dedication. In his welcome remarks, The National Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Customs Service, Ibrahim Maiwada, emphasized the need for ethical leadership and stronger public engagement within the Nigeria Police Force.

The Representative of the National President, Nigeria Institute of Public Relations said the decision to launch a formal guide for officer conduct under Adeniyi’s watch was a reflection of the CG’s belief in the power of perception, credibility, and institutional integrity. As part of the ongoing campaign, customs officers will receive a practical guide on reputation management, ensuring they carry out their duties with professionalism and national pride.
