Insecurity: Youth Group Faults Amnesty International

The Northern Youth Frontiers (NYF), a coalition of youths from the northern region, has accused Amnesty International of engaging in activities it described as disruptive, misleading, and dangerous to Nigeria’s stability.

In a statement on Thursday, the group’s National Coordinator, Sama Musa, faulted the human rights organization’s recent reports on Nigeria’s security challenges, describing them as “careless, mischievous, and designed to incite chaos.”

Musa said Amnesty International’s reports portray a distorted image of the situation, alleging that they mislead the international community, demoralize security forces, and embolden criminal groups.

The group maintained that Amnesty International’s approach is agenda-driven and warned that its one-sided narratives could deepen divisions and jeopardize peace efforts.

Calling on the Federal Government to take decisive steps, the NYF urged authorities to investigate the organization’s operations in Nigeria, assess the impact of its reports on national security, and, if necessary, restrict its activities.

Musa also advised government to engage civil society and local communities to counter misinformation and to launch public awareness campaigns in support of security agencies.
