IGP Expresses Concern Over Insecurity In Nigeria

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has expressed Concern on Nigeria’s security challenges saying the trend is becoming faster, more complex, and more unpredictable, hence the need for Authorities of the Nigeria Police to adapt with speed, foresight, and creativity to stay ahead of evolving threats.

Speaking at the opening of an Executive Capacity-Building Workshop for Senior Officers in Abuja, Egbetokun said modern conflicts no longer unfold at a measured pace but emerge suddenly, persist stubbornly, and are amplified by technology, terrorism, and cross-border alliances.

GALAXY TV reports that the IGP added that the goal of the workshop was not just individual learning but a collective transformation that would make the police agile in planning, bold in execution, and united in vision,” ensuring Nigerians experience tangible improvements in security.

The Board Chairman of SPSP, Professor Suleiman Bogoro, and the Society’s President, Nathaniel Awuapila, described the workshop as a transformative leadership resource that aligns with Nigeria’s National Security Strategy, the Police Reform Agenda, and international peace-building frameworks.

They said the initiative was not only a training guide but also a strategic effort to reposition the Force as a proactive, intelligence-led institution committed to peace, justice, and national cohesion.
