Police operatives at the Ejigbo Division of the Lagos State Command have started manhunt for a woman, identified as Iya Ahmed, for engaging the service of area boys to beat her 19-year old son, Quadri, for stealing packs of noodles and they eventually killed him through torture.
The incident happened at Erin Folami Street, off Ogunde Road, Ejigbo, Lagos, where they reside.
The mother was said to have checked where she kept the noodles in the house and they were not there. She then asked the late Quadri and he told her that he was hungry and he took the noodles.
The mother raised alarm and contacted the area boys within the neighbourhood and asked them to torture him because he was a thief as he equally allegedly carted away the aluminium sheets she kept in the house.
The area boys reportedly beat the deceased mercilessly, stripped him naked, then poured water on his body and placed live electricity cables on his body. He got electrocuted and died in the torturing process.
The area boys, having realized that the victim had died, fled and his mother was contacted at her shop nearby. She got back to her house and found the lifeless body of her son on the ground.
She reportedly fainted and was rushed to WestCare Hospital, where she was revived. But before then, the Police got the information about what happened. And so she sneaked out from the hospital and went into hiding.
The residents were still in shock and narrated what happened and how the victim was maltreated before he eventually died.
The woman was said to have got married to her husband and had seven children before they separated and she started living on her own. The children were divided on who to follow. Some followed their father including the deceased while others lived with their mother. The deceased later came back to the mother before the incident happened.
According to their neighbours, since the deceased returned and started living with her, she kept maltreating him until the latest incident that eventually claimed his life.
However, sources at the station said that the Police were aware of the matter and were looking for the late Quadri’s mother and her accomplices now on the run.
