A 28-year old lady, Onyiyechi Nwokoma, who was sentenced to six months imprisonment with an option of three months community service for attacking and destroying the property of a man, Steven Eze, over marriage has insisted that he must marry her.
Miss Onyiyechi, while being taken to the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, where she will serve her prison sentence, insisted that her Prophet prophesied to her about the marriage before she informed the man, Mr. Eze, about it.
The embattled Onyiyechi explained how she knew Eze. She stated that he was bringing some materials for her to work on before the revelation came from her Prophet, who reportedly confirmed that Eze will be her husband before she informed him about it.
She explained that she was a tailor while Eze was a photographer and both of them had shops in the same area. And despite the situation she found herself by going to prison over the matter, she stated that she believes that before she comes out, Eze will have a change of mind and get married to her.
Onyiyechi landed in prison following the judgment of the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. J .Ugbomoiko of the Ogba Magistrate Court, who found her guilty for misconduct and sentenced her accordingly.
She was arraigned before the Court for disturbing the man’s peace by attacking and destroying his property at his shop located at Church Street, Apex area of Alagbado, Lagos, where he owns a photographic studio and Onyiyechi as well owns a tailoring shop.
Onyiyechi had met Eze at his shop and told him that she went to a church and her Prophet told her that he was her husband and he should marry her and promised to cater for all the expenses regarding their marriage because she had made reasonable amount of money from her business.
However, Eze declined and she then went to Eze’s shop and destroyed some of his properties on three different occasions in order to force him to get married to her. The man then became afraid and informed his family members about what was happening.
The matter was reported to the Police at Alagbado Division. She was then arrested, subsequently charged before the Court for the alleged offence and that was how her journey to prison started over desperation to get married.
