Abba Yusuf, the governor of Kano State, declared on Wednesday night that he will challenge the tribunal’s decision over the state’s March 18 election for governorship.
Earlier on Wednesday, the tribunal ruled Yusuf Gawuna, the candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC), to be the legitimately elected governor of the state, invalidating Yusuf’s victory in the election.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was also directed to remove the certificate of return granted to Yusuf and present a new one to the APC candidate in the judgment delivered through Zoom.
The governor advised the state’s residents to maintain their composure in a statement on his X platform, which replaced Twitter. He described the decision as a temporary setback.
Yusuf said he had directed his legal team to appeal the ruling at the appeal court.
