Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has commissioned new and remodelled judicial facilities as part of efforts to strengthen the state’s justice system and improve working conditions for judicial and law officers.
Alia disclosed this while joining members of the Benue State Judiciary, the Bar and other stakeholders for the opening of the 2026/2027 Legal Year at the High Court Headquarters in Makurdi.
The governor said his administration had granted the Judiciary full financial and administrative autonomy, leading to increased investment in court infrastructure and improved welfare for judicial officers and law officers.
The newly commissioned projects include the Judicial Service Commission Complex, High Court Clinic, remodelled High Court Complex and asphalted internal roads within the court premises. Construction has also commenced on a modern Ministry of Justice Complex.
Alia called for stronger cooperation between the Executive and Judiciary and urged stakeholders to uphold integrity, fairness and professionalism. He also appealed for faster resolution of cases, warning that delayed justice can amount to denial of justice.
