Google Expands Search live globally, Introduces New AI voice model

Google has announced the global expansion of its Search Live feature, alongside the launch of a new voice and audio model, Gemini 3.1 Flash Live.

It is designed to deliver more natural, real-time interactions with users.

The technology giant disclosed that, “Search Live is now available in all regions where AI Mode operates. It will enable users in more than 200 countries and territories to engage in interactive conversations with Search using voice and camera capabilities.

“With the expanded feature, users can now interact with Search in a more dynamic way, speaking queries aloud and receiving instant audio responses, while also asking follow-up questions in a continuous conversation.”

It stated: “The tool is built for situations where typing may be inconvenient, offering a faster and more intuitive way to access information. Users can activate the feature directly within the Google app on Android and iOS devices by selecting the Live option.

“In addition to voice, Search Live integrates camera functionality, allowing users to point their device at objects or scenarios and receive contextual assistance. For instance, users can get step-by-step guidance on practical tasks or explore information about items in their surroundings in real time.

“The global rollout is powered by Gemini 3.1 Flash Live, Google’s latest AI voice and audio model, which enhances the quality and responsiveness of interactions. The model is inherently multilingual, enabling users to communicate with Search in their preferred languages.

“Gemini 3.1 Flash Live is also being made available to developers through the Gemini Live API in AI Studio (in preview), as well as to enterprises via Gemini Enterprise for Customer Experience, extending its capabilities beyond consumer use cases. “

According to Google, the expansion reflects its ongoing efforts to make Search more helpful, accessible, and responsive to users’ everyday needs. By combining voice, visual context, and conversational AI, the company aims to simplify how people learn, explore, and complete tasks.

The integration with tools like Google Lens further enhances the experience, enabling real-time, back-and-forth conversations about what users see in the physical world.
