The freed Kebbi High Court Judge, Justice Faruk Hassan Bunza, who was taken to an undisclosed hospital on Monday for treatment, is likely to be discharged today, police say.
The judge was abducted in the early hours of Sunday, 26 July 2026, from his residence along Zogirma Road shortly after returning from a trip to Sokoto. Following the abduction, his captors reportedly demanded a ransom of N200 million. Unconfirmed reports say N50 million ransom was paid.
The judge returned to the House on Monday morning via a commercial vehicle.The Spokesman for the Kebbi Police command, SP Bashir Usman, in a telephone interview on Tuesday evening, said the judge was still in the hospital and was likely to be discharged today.
