Legal Practitioners under the Forum of Forensic Investigation Lawyers, in collaboration with the Kingdom Human Rights Group, has filed a lawsuit at the Federal High Court in Abuja seeking the suspension of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of NNPC Limited, Dapo Segun.
The suit, filed with case number FHC/ABJ/1580/2025, accuses Segun of alleged mismanagement related to the multi-trillion-naira refinery rehabilitation project and the acquisition of OVH Energy. The lawyers are calling for a forensic audit of both transactions and an investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The legal team, led by Barristers Ahmed Yusuf and Okere Kingdom, claimed that Segun held key roles during critical periods of the refinery rehabilitation, first as Head of Treasury, then as Executive Vice President, Downstream, and now as CFO. They alleged that the same official was involved in awarding contracts and authorizing payments related to the failed projects.
The lawyers said the continuous presence of Mr. Segun in office could compromise documents and interfere with investigations. They are seeking a court order to suspend him pending the conclusion of the audit and probe. The group has also called on President Bola Tinubu to relieve Mr. Segun of his duties, citing lack of accountability and failed leadership in the affected projects
