FIDA Nigeria Concludes 2025 Annual General Conference with Renewed Commitments on Women’s Rights and Justice

The International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Nigeria has rounded off its 2025 Annual General Conference, held from November 24 to 27 at the Watercress Events Centre in Ikeja, Lagos, with a strong reaffirmation of its commitment to advancing the rights and welfare of women and children across the country. The conference, themed “Bridging Gaps, Building Futures: Women’s Rights, Justice, and Sustainable Development in Nigeria,” brought together legal experts, policymakers, advocates, and development partners who evaluated the state of gender justice and outlined urgent action points for national progress.

Over the four-day gathering, speakers and panelists highlighted key achievements recorded by FIDA Nigeria while identifying legal, institutional, and societal gaps affecting women and children. The deliberations culminated in a comprehensive communiqué that called for stronger law enforcement, enhanced digital safety, increased women’s political participation, improved mentorship for young female lawyers, and deeper collaboration with relevant agencies to strengthen advocacy and protection mechanisms nationwide.
