FIDA Edo Announces 2025 Law Week as Lateef Omoyemi Akangbe, SAN Set to Deliver Keynote on Women in Leadership

FIDA Edo has officially announced its 2025 Law Week, scheduled to hold from November 19 to 21, with a strong focus on advancing women’s participation in leadership and governance. The highlight of this year’s programme is the keynote address to be delivered by Lateef Omoyemi Akangbe, SAN, former Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Lagos Branch. Speaking on the theme “Women in Leadership and Political Positions: The Audacity to Hope,” Akangbe is expected to shed light on the systemic barriers that hinder women’s representation and explore actionable pathways toward inclusion, equity, and transformative leadership.

The three-day event will feature a lineup of activities including an advocacy walk on drug abuse, a public lecture at the John Odigie Oyegun Public Service Academy, and the association’s Annual General Meeting, which will be followed by a social hangout. According to FIDA Edo, this year’s Law Week is designed not only to spark critical conversations but also to inspire renewed commitment to empowering women across political and professional spaces. Stakeholders from the legal community, civil society, and government are expected to attend, reflecting the growing momentum around gender-balanced leadership in Nigeria.
