The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested Idris Usman and his motor boy, Alhassan Ibrahim, for alleged child trafficking.
Addressing the media in Abuja on Wednesday, FCT Commissioner of Police Olatunji Disu said a patrol team led by DSP Sarki Umar intercepted a white Peugeot J5 bus (Reg. No. KMC 283 ZJ) on January 6, 2025, along the Abuja-Kano route.
The vehicle, driven by Idris Usman , carried 59 boys aged 4 to 12. Investigations revealed Idris Usman, a Nasarawa State resident, transported the children from Kano under the pretext of providing training without proper documentation or parental consent.
The suspects, the vehicle, and the children are in custody as investigations continue.
The CP said The Police Command is working with the Social Development Secretariat (SDS) to reunite the children with their families and prosecute those involved.
Commissioner Disu reaffirmed the commitment to protecting children from abuse under the Child’s Rights Act of 2003 and urged parents to ensure their children’s safety.
