Former federal lawmaker Hon. Mohammad Kazaure has made explosive allegations against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, claiming the president disregarded evidence of over N100 trillion (approximately $113 billion) allegedly stolen during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari. Kazaure, speaking in an interview, asserted that he personally submitted a detailed report to Tinubu before his inauguration, naming individuals implicated in the alleged theft.
Kazaure claimed that the investigation, which he said cost him his 2023 re-election bid, forced him to flee Nigeria twice to evade assassination attempts while he should have been campaigning. “I told Mr. President, this investigation nearly cost me my life. I escaped death twice and had to hide abroad,” he stated. He urged Tinubu to use the document to recover the funds and build the nation without needing loans for the next eight years.
However, Kazaure alleged that Tinubu dismissed the evidence, metaphorically “throwing all the documents into the dustbin,” and has since pursued loans despite knowing the identities of those responsible. He further claimed that the same individuals implicated in the fraud now hold key positions in Tinubu’s government, accusing the administration of perpetuating corruption.
These unverified claims, made public on August 5, 2025, have sparked controversy and calls from opposition figures and civil society for an independent investigation.
