The Ethiopian government has banned Visa On Arrival (VOA) for immigrants from all countries, including Nigeria.
Previously, travelers visiting Ethiopia may acquire their Walk-in Visas upon arrival; however, the most recent change requires that all countries apply online before coming to Ethiopia in order to obtain their visas.
According to a notice issued by Ethiopian Airlines, all Nigerian travelers planning to visit Ethiopia must first apply for a visa at the Ethiopian embassy.
The circular captioned: NO MORE VISA ON ARRIVAL FOR NIGERIAN CITIZENS, as issued by Ethiopian airlines adds further that, passengers transiting overnight in Addis Ababa are not affected by the ban.
These include, passengers having a layover in Addis Ababa to travel the next morning to ZANZIBAR, SEYCHELLES, LUSAKA, LILONGWE, HARARE, and CAPE TOWN, among others are not affected by the ban and do not need a transit visa for their trips.
