The former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has chosen to withdraw his nomination for a ministerial role in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government. Additionally, El-Rufai has put forward a replacement candidate to take up the ministerial position.
According to reports, El-Rufai has officially informed President Tinubu that he will no longer consider the offer to become a minister in the government. He has assured Tinubu that he will continue contributing to the nation’s development as a private citizen.
It is stated that El-Rufai has recommended Jafaru Ibrahim Sani as a suitable replacement. Sani has previously served as a commissioner in three ministries in Kaduna State: Local Government, Education, and Environment.
The confirmation process for El-Rufai and two other ministerial nominees has been postponed by the Senate, citing concerns about the current state of insecurity.
As of now, the Senate has sent a list of 45 confirmed nominees to the President.
