President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been advised not to appoint Nasir El-Rufai, a former governor of Kaduna State, as a minister by a coalition of Quranic Memorisers and Reciters.
The director of education at the Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi Foundation, Sheikh Sidi Aliyu Sise, pleaded with Tinubu not to swear in unjust politicians.
He claimed that El-Rufai’s nomination and National Assembly review were unfair to Qur’anic reciters and memorizers.
He said that while he was governor, El-rufa’i oppressed Almajirai under his leadership.
He urged Tinubu to oversee the nation with an eye toward justice.
Sheikh Sidi pleaded, “We demand for justice as a result of injustice, harassment, trauma, and difficulties encountered by our disciples, teachers and many Qur’anic scholars, when he evacuated our innocent pupils from the House of Maulana Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi in Kaduna to unknown destination.”
He said swearing in El-rufa’i as minister would mean that Tinubu is in support of the injustice they suffered while El-rufa’i was governor.
