Ola Olukoyede, the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has ordered an immediate investigation into bribery allegations made by controversial cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, against some EFCC officers.
Bobrisky, who is an ex-convict, claimed in a video posted by blogger Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, that certain unnamed EFCC officers had accepted ₦15 million from him to dismiss money laundering charges.
In response to the allegations, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale issued a statement on Tuesday, confirming that the EFCC chairman has assembled a team of investigators to thoroughly examine the claims.
“To this end, the Commission hereby invites both Okuneye and Otse (VeryDarkMan) to make themselves available at its Lagos Directorate to assist investigators unearth the alleged bribery,” he said.
The EFCC assured the public that the allegations would be thoroughly investigated and the result of the findings made public accordingly.
In April, Bobrisky was sentenced to six months imprisonment without an option of fine for abusing the Nigerian currency – naira.
