EFCC Charges Children Against Cyber Crime in Uyo

The Uyo Zonal Commander of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Assistant Commander of the EFCC, ACE Bawa Hamidu Saidu, has called on children across the country to steer clear of internet-related crimes and be more focused on their studies.

He gave the charge on Saturday, May 28, 2022 in Uyo while marking the Children’s Day celebration in a time-out with children of secondary school age, drawn from different schools in the state.

Bawa who spoke through the Head, Public Affairs Department of the Uyo Zonal Command, Chief Superintendent of the EFCC, CSE Theresa Nwosu, cautioned the children on the dangers that come with getting involved in any type of crime. “Run away from every form of internet fraud because even if you’re not caught today, you will be caught tomorrow because the internet does not forget” she said.

A quiz competition was organised by the Commission to test school children’s awareness and depth about the works of the EFCC. Participants were made to respond to questions on the activities of the Commission, cybercrime, economic and financial crimes, penalties for corrupt practices, among others. Three winners emerged from the competition and were rewarded with EFCC branded items.

The winners are: Israel Mandor, of Nigerian Christian Institute Early Learning Center and Ogidan Joshua Olakunle and Sangasanga Okonetuk as first and second runners-up respectively.
