Edo: PDP Appeals to INEC, Police for Free, Fair Governorship Election

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Police to ensure a free, fair, and credible governorship election in Edo State.

During a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Debo Ologunagba, urged INEC to ensure that all election result sheets are countersigned by both the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) and the National Commissioner overseeing the zone.

This, he emphasized, is necessary to authenticate the results, and it should be done at the time of distributing election materials to local governments, wards, and polling units.

Ologunagba further stressed that the PDP and the people of Edo would not accept any form of rigging in the upcoming election. He expressed confidence in the party’s preparation and optimism for victory, while also encouraging voters to remain peaceful, vigilant, and ensure their votes are counted and results uploaded before leaving polling stations.

Additionally, he called on President Bola Tinubu to direct INEC and the Police to protect the integrity of the election, ensuring that the process is credible and transparent.
