Edo Attorney-General, Samson Osagie Denies Financial Misconduct Amid Suspension

Samson Osagie, the suspended Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice of Edo State, has firmly denied any involvement in financial infractions following his suspension. In a statement issued on Thursday in Benin, Osagie vowed to clear his name and prove his innocence.

The former House of Representatives member reacted strongly to a special government announcement that accused him of financial misconduct alongside the Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission, Damian Lawani. Despite the allegations, Osagie insisted that he had never engaged in any financial dealings nor committed any infractions.

“I was never confronted with these allegations prior to my suspension,” Osagie declared. He further expressed his readiness to defend himself and protect the reputation he has built over the years.

The suspension, which came just three months into Osagie’s tenure, was announced by the Secretary to the Edo State Government, Mr. Musa Ikhilor. The announcement also included the suspension of Damian Lawani, who, alongside Osagie, faces allegations of serious financial and official misconduct.

This suspension follows a series of disciplinary actions in the state, including the earlier suspension of Ahmed Momoh, the Executive Director of the State Flood Erosion and Watershed Management Agency, over claims of insubordination.
