At the Federal High Court, Maitama, Abuja, a Department of State Services (DSS) operative, Yusuf Adams, testified as the first prosecution witness before Justice Joyce Abdulmalik. Adams told the court that during investigation, his team examined defendant Moses Oddiri’s phone and Facebook page, discovering videos in which Oddiri accused EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, of intercepting and diverting ₦4 billion royalties released by Heritage Operational Services Limited for the Orogun Community in Delta State.
Adams explained that the DSS acted on a petition from the EFCC dated September 23, 2025, alleging that Oddiri had circulated false claims on social media. He confirmed that Oddiri was arrested in Lagos on November 10, 2025, and interviewed under caution, with his statement audio‑visually recorded in the presence of legal aid counsel. The DSS also obtained bank records, incorporation documents, and correspondence relating to the allegations.
During proceedings, prosecution counsel C.S. Orubor announced readiness to commence trial, while defence counsel M. Adeniran objected, citing lack of access to his client in DSS custody. Justice Abdulmalik, however, ruled that the trial should proceed, noting that the defence had been served with the charge. The matter was adjourned to March 13, 2026, for continuation of trial and hearing of bail application.
Oddiri faces a two‑count charge under Section 24(1) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Amendment Act 2024, relating to alleged false publications intended to injure the reputation of the EFCC Chairman.
