Chaos erupted at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos this morning when Senator Adams Oshiomhole, former Edo State Governor, allegedly ordered the closure of the Zulu Terminal at the General Aviation Terminal (GAT) after missing his flight to Abuja.
The incident, which occurred around 6:10 AM, was captured in a now-viral video showing the Edo North Senator in a heated exchange with airport staff. Eyewitnesses report that Oshiomhole arrived at the terminal for a 6:30 AM flight to Abuja, only to find that boarding had closed and the plane had departed on schedule.
Sources claim the senator became agitated upon learning he had missed his flight, engaging in a verbal altercation with airline staff. In an apparent bid to delay the aircraft, Oshiomhole allegedly blocked the terminal entrance, preventing other passengers from accessing the departure hall.
Airport personnel stated that the airline operator refused to delay the flight, escalating tensions. The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) have yet to issue official statements on the incident.
The event has sparked widespread reactions online, with many questioning the conduct of public officials in such situations. Further updates are expected as authorities investigate.
