Dr. Rapulu Nduka, Past National Publicity Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association and Candidate for the Office of General Secretary of the NBA, attended the Law Week of the NBA Gombe Branch, themed “Strengthening Justice Through Reforms: Lawyers as Agents of Change.”
Speaking on the significance of the theme, Dr. Nduka emphasized that lawyers must move beyond rhetoric and truly become agents of positive change within the justice sector and society at large. He noted that meaningful reforms can only be achieved when legal practitioners consciously embrace their responsibilities as custodians of justice, ethics, and the rule of law.
According to him, discussions on justice sector reforms should not become occasions for assigning blame or criticizing others alone. Rather, they should serve as opportunities for introspection, self-evaluation, and constructive engagement.
Dr. Nduka urged members of the Bar to look inward and identify practical ways they can individually and collectively contribute to strengthening the administration of justice. He stressed that every lawyer has a role to play in promoting professionalism, integrity, efficiency, and public confidence in the justice system.
He commended the NBA Gombe Branch for convening a timely and important discourse and expressed confidence that sustained engagement on reform-oriented issues would contribute significantly to building a more effective and responsive justice system in Nigeria.
