DESMOND OGBA, PARTNER AT TEMPLARS, ENDORSES OMOYEMI AKANGBE, SAN FOR NBA PRESIDENT

As someone who has had the privilege of knowing and working with Lateef Omoyemi Akangbe, SAN, I have no hesitation in endorsing his candidacy for the office of President of the Nigerian Bar Association. Yemi is a lawyer of exceptional ability, impeccable integrity, and uncommon discipline whose professional life has consistently been defined by excellence, service, and results. He is thoughtful, measured, and dependable, with an unwavering commitment to the ideals of our profession.

Yemi’s record speaks louder than campaign promises. As Chairman of the NBA Lagos Branch, he delivered transformational leadership that significantly improved members’ welfare, strengthened institutional capacity, enhanced financial accountability, and expanded opportunities for professional development. His administration pioneered affordable health insurance for members, subsidised professional training, strengthened mentoring programmes, institutionalised high-quality knowledge-sharing sessions, accelerated the digitisation of Branch operations, and demonstrated exemplary transparency in financial management. His tenure stands as compelling evidence of a leader who not only articulates a vision but possesses the competence, discipline, and integrity to deliver meaningful and lasting results.

Beyond his impressive achievements, Yemi has earned the respect of the legal community through decades of distinguished practice, service, and mentorship. As a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, a member of the Body of Benchers, an accomplished arbitrator, and a respected thought leader, he has consistently contributed to the advancement of the profession while remaining accessible to younger lawyers. He understands the challenges confronting lawyers at every stage of practice, from welfare and continuing professional development to ethics, institutional reform, and positioning the Nigerian Bar to thrive in an increasingly global and technology-driven legal marketplace. I am confident that he possesses the experience, temperament, vision, and credibility to unite our Bar and provide the purposeful leadership that this moment demands.

I therefore wholeheartedly urge every member of the Nigerian Bar Association to support and vote for Lateef Omoyemi Akangbe, SAN as our next President. This election presents us with an opportunity to choose proven leadership over rhetoric, experience over experimentation, and a demonstrable record of service over mere aspiration. I believe Yemi has earned our confidence and our votes. I encourage colleagues across our various branches to stand with him as we work together to build a stronger, more progressive, and more impactful Nigerian Bar Association.
