In his Democracy Day message, the presidential candidate of the Nigerian Bar Association called on lawyers to reflect on the future of the Association as it approaches its 2026 elections, stressing the need for unity, inclusiveness, and responsive leadership. He highlighted that the future of the NBA depends on leaders who are committed to service, integrity, and the collective good, while urging members of the Bar to continue upholding the values of justice and democratic governance in their professional and national engagements.

HAPPY DEMOCRACY DAY
Today, we celebrate the enduring strength of democracy and the values that sustain it: justice, accountability, participation, and the rule of law. These principles are not only the foundation of our nation; they are also the ideals that define our profession as lawyers.
As members of the Nigerian Bar Association, we understand that democracy thrives when institutions are strong, voices are heard, and leadership remains accountable to the people it serves. These same values must continue to guide the future of our Association.
This Democracy Day offers us an opportunity to reflect on the kind of Bar we desire: one that is united, inclusive, progressive, and responsive to the needs of every lawyer, regardless of branch, age, or area of practice. A stronger NBA is essential to a stronger legal profession and a more just society.
As we look forward to July 2026, when members of our Association will elect those who will pilot its affairs, we are reminded that leadership is a sacred trust founded on service, integrity, accountability, and a commitment to the collective good. The future of the Nigerian Bar Association depends on leaders who are prepared to listen, unite, and work diligently to advance the interests of every lawyer and strengthen our profession.
