The Minister of Solid Minerals, Dele Alake, has pledged to bring about a significant transformation in the solid minerals sector by implementing stricter regulations to ensure stability. He made this commitment during a meeting with Ms. Lean Johnston, the Australian High Commissioner to Nigeria, at his office in Abuja.
One of the major challenges facing Nigeria’s solid minerals sector is illegal mining, and Minister Alake expressed concern about its impact on the industry. He assured that he would take steps to address this issue.
Additionally, Minister Alake emphasized his intention to prioritize and encourage investment in the sector, recognizing its potential to boost the economy and create job opportunities.
In response, the Australian envoy, Ms. Lean Johnston, pledged her country’s support for the optimization of Nigeria’s solid minerals sector.
Minister Dele Alake is one of the 45 ministers recently inaugurated by President Bola Tinubu, following a screening and confirmation process by the Senate. Prior to his appointment as a minister, he served as the Special Adviser on Special Duties, Communication, and Strategy to the President.
