As the deadline for compliance draws to a close, legal practitioners across Nigeria have been issued a final call to settle their Bar Practising Fees (BPF) and Branch Dues, with leading voice Okey Leo Ohagba, Esq., warning that “the BPF clock is now ticking faster.” In a strongly worded message to members of the Bar, Ohagba emphasized that the deadline day has arrived, urging lawyers yet to comply to act swiftly to avoid losing critical professional privileges tied to their status within the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
He highlighted that payment of the required fees is not merely procedural but fundamental to maintaining the legal right to practice, participate in NBA elections, and access key welfare benefits, including life insurance indemnity. Ohagba further noted that compliance remains a prerequisite for career advancement opportunities such as applications for Notary Public, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), and judicial appointments, calling on lawyers to be proactive, innovative, and fully aligned with professional obligations.
