Customs Intercept N20.5bn Worth Goods in Rivers

In a major crackdown, the Nigeria Customs Service has intercepted 16 containers loaded with illegal pharmaceuticals and other goods worth N20.5 billion at the Onne Port in Rivers State.

‎The seized items include banned substances like Codeine syrup, Tramadol, Diclofenac, as well as cartons of skin creams all concealed to evade detection.

‎‎The Nigeria Customs Service has made a significant bust at Onne Port, seizing 16 containers loaded with banned pharmaceutical products worth 20.5 billion naira. ‎

Customs Comptroller-General Bashir Adeniyi announced the seizure during a press briefing at the Area 2 Command in Onne, Rivers State as he warned that the illicit drugs pose serious risks.

Speaking shortly after receiving the seized pharmaceuticals from the Customs CG, the Director General of NAFDAC, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, commended the Customs boss and his officers for their vigilance and collaboration.
