The Federal High Court 3 sitting in Lagos has revoked the bail granted to one Ayotude Richard over contempt following what it described as a scandalous social media post against the court that was linked to him.
Richard whose bail application hearing was pending is facing charges of cyberstalking, libel, and defamation, related to social media posts against Dr Daniel Olukoya, the General Overseer of Mountain of Fire Ministries.
Prior to the revocation of his bail, one Funke Asekun was said to have made some social media posts which the court perceived offensive and ordered for her immediate arrest.
The police prosecutor, Mr Nosa Uhumwangho, in Charge No: FHC/L/ 168C/24 IGP vs Ayotunde Richard, drew the attention of the court to the scandalizing social media post vide an Application for abridgement of time and for an Order revoking the bail of the Defendant.
The Defendant filed his counter affidavit in response to the Application of the Prosecutor.
The trial judge, Justice A. Lewis-Allagoa delivering a bench ruling to revoke the bail of the defendant pending when Funke Ashekun is arrested and brought before him or when she pulls down the offensive post with an apology, said he has read both affidavits and the defendant in his affidavit admitted that the social media post by Funke Ashekun does not represent what transpired in court.
He said the defendant also admitted that the said Funke Ashekun tagged him to the story adding that his bail remained revoked till Ashekun is arrested.
