A magistrate court sitting in Ibadan has ordered the remand of a 59-year-old nurse, Adesoye Aniwura for causing a patient’s death in his hospital.
The ruling was given by the magistrate, Emmanuel Idowu on Monday.
Idowu denied the suspect’s plea for want in jurisdiction.
The magistrate further ordered the police to return the case file to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
While waiting for legal advice from the DPP, the case was adjourned to August 18, 2022.
The accused was represented by his counsel, W. Owoniyi while the complainant’s counsel was E.O. Ayoola.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that, “The prosecutor, Insp Iyabo Oladoyin, told the court that Aniwura, on May 28, at about 3am at his hospital, caused the death of one Esther Oladepo (24) by carrying out a surgery on her thrice which led to her death.”
