The Council of Legal Education has announced the commencement of the 2023/2024 Bar Admissions Part II.
The law school program is scheduled to commence simultaneously at several campuses in Nigeria, namely Abuja, Lagos, Enugu, Kano, Yenagoa, Yola, and Port Harcourt, starting from November 27, 2023.
According to the Council of Legal Education’s publication, Bar Part II is open to law graduates from Nigerian Universities and foreign-trained law graduates who have completed and passed the Bar Part I Course at the Nigerian Law School.
The application portal is set to open on Monday, July 24, 2023. Prospective candidates are advised to visit the Nigerian Law School website, www.nigerianlawschool.edu.ng to access comprehensive instructions regarding the application procedure. Candidates should download the application forms and obtain references, which are to be submitted to the Nigerian Law School through their respective Faculties of Law no later than Friday, August 25, 2023.
This phase is a significant step for individuals aspiring to become qualified lawyers or barristers in certain jurisdictions. After completing their law degree or an equivalent qualification and passing the Bar Admissions Part I examination, candidates proceed to the Bar Admissions Part II.
During this stage, aspiring lawyers undergo further training, including practical legal skills assessments, advocacy training, and sometimes professional ethics examinations. Successful completion of this phase brings them closer to being called to the bar and becoming fully qualified legal practitioners.
