Abia State Government has begun the formal implementation of the Supreme Court judgment resolving the long-standing land dispute between Ndi Ebe and Ndi Ojiugwo Abam in Arochukwu LGA of the State.
The apex court had earlier ruled in favour of Ndi Ebe community.
Speaking to representatives of the two communities, Abia State Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State’s Boundary Committee, Ikechukwu Emetu reassured all parties that the demarcation exercise would be carried out strictly in accordance with the Supreme Court’s decision and guided by fairness and transparency.
Emetu, who was represented by the Abia State Boundary Consultant, Chris Nwanevo, urged members of the communities to refrain from interfering with the process, emphasizing that no villagers would be allowed at the site until the assignment is concluded.
He added that stakeholders from both sides would be invited afterward to review the completed work to ensure mutual understanding, agreement, and acceptance, in line with Governor Alex Otti’s peace and unity drive.
The committee also assured residents of adequate security presence throughout the exercise to maintain order.
“We are here to officially notify you that work has commenced in the area as directed by the Supreme Court ruling in favour of Ndi Ebe,” Emetu said.
Ezeogo Okoko Arunsi and other members of Ndi Ebe were present during the meeting, while Ezeogo Augustine Ota Ola and other members of Ndi Ojiugwo Abam represented their community.
