CJN Kekere-Ekun Wades into Rivers Judicial Logjam, Summons Judges Over Conflicting Rulings

Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, has stepped into the political crisis in Rivers State, which has seen Governor Siminalayi Fubara battle with his predecessor Nyesom Wike.

Judges of the federal and state high courts involved in conflicting rulings in political cases rocking Rivers State are now officially being probed by a panel of the National Judicial Council.

The panel, headed by a former Court of Appeal justice (name withheld), includes two heads of courts, are to submit their report this week.

The CJN has also summoned the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court for questioning on Tuesday.

This development comes after formal complaints were filed with the Council. It is understood that the CJN individually ordered the comprehensive probe.
