The government of Lagos State has confirmed that the deceased student from Chrisland Schools in Opebi, Ikeja, was electrocuted following the release of the autopsy results for Whitney Adeniran.
The youngster reportedly collapsed and died during the school’s inter-house sporting event, which was held at Agege Stadium, according to Chrisland Schools.
The 12-year-old student’s parent disputed the school’s portrayal of her as a sickly youngster by stating that she was in good health on the morning of the tragic incident.
To guarantee a smooth investigation of the crime, the Lagos State government ordered the school’s shutdown.
Whitney’s mother had earlier confirmed that her daughter died of electrocution.
Moyosore Onigbanjo, the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, also confirmed the result of the autopsy.
Onigbanjo announced that the report dated March 1, 2023, was issued by the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital.
“The post-mortem report revealed the cause of death to be Asphyxia and electrocution.
The Directorate of Public Prosecutions has been instructed to issue Legal Advice on the matter,” the Attorney-General said.
He further commiserated with the deceased’s family, assuring the public that anyone found guilty would be charged to court immediately
