Four staff members of Chrisland Schools have been arraigned before the state High Court sitting in Ikeja by the Lagos State government.
The government arraigned Ademoye Adewale, Kuku Fatai, Belinda Amao, and Nwatu Victoria over the death of a student, Whitney Adenira who died during the school’s inter-house sports.
According to the charges filed by the state, the defendants allegedly killed Miss Adeniran on February 9, 2023, at about 1 pm, in Agege Sports Stadium, Agege, Lagos by negligence and recklessness which put the deceased life in danger.
Moyosore Onigbanjo (SAN), the state Attorney General, urged the court to take the plea of the defendants in the two count charges filed against them by the state.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges that were read.
The Attorney General however told the court that that state has seventeen witnesses and is expecting a date to commence trial.
Justice Oyindamola Ogala, who presided over the case, fixed May 25, June 1, 8, and 15 for the commencement of trial after the defendants’ counsels accepted the oral application.
The Lagos State Government had revealed that it plans to sue Chrisland High School, some staffers, and a vendor for “Involuntary Manslaughter and Reckless and Negligent Acts” following the death of Whitney Adeniran.
