President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his vice president-elect, Kashim Shettima, have received national honors from President Muhammadu Buhari.
Grand Commander of the Federal Republic (GCFR) and Grand Commander of the Order of Niger (GCON), respectively, are National Honors bestowed to Tinubu and Shettima.
The investiture, held at the State House Conference Center in Abuja, was one of several activities planned for the official inauguration on May 29.
A formal transfer of transition documents to the next administration is also anticipated to take place today. This is made possible by Executive Order 14, which President Buhari signed, and is expected to be the most structured and smooth Presidential Transition in Nigerian history.
Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha who doubles as Chairman of the Presidential Transition Council, had disclosed at a briefing last Thursday, that an Inauguration Lecture on the topic: Deepening Democracy for Integration and Development by His Excellency, Uhuru M. Kenyatta, former President of Kenya will take place on Saturday 27th May.
A Children’s Day Program that includes a procession and a party for the children will come just after this.
An interdenominational church service will be held on Sunday, January 28, at the National Christian Center at 10:00 a.m. as part of the calendar of events for the 2023 Presidential Inauguration, and an inaugural dinner and gala night will follow at the State House Conference Center.
The SGF further announced that on May 29th, the Inauguration Parade and Swearing-In exercise will begin at Eagle Square at 10:00 am, and that a Post Inauguration Luncheon will follow immediately after.
Boss Mustapha gave the assurance that sufficient preparations had been taken to ensure everyone’s safety and security throughout the inauguration time.
