Atiku Pledges Tax Relief for Startups, Digitalisation of Public Services

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has pledged to introduce tax relief for new companies and digitise public services, budgeting and procurement if elected president.

He made the pledge while addressing founders, engineers and innovators attending the Moonshot by TechCabal event at the National Theatre in Lagos yesterday.

Atiku, whose address at the event was posted on his X, said he would introduce policies to support technology start-ups and create an enabling environment for them and other new businesses to grow.

The former vice president also promised to make government a customer of young companies by digitising public services, budgeting and procurement processes.

According to him, his government will also require every new development to be fibre-ready to improve digital connectivity and support the growth of technology businesses.

He said Nigerian entrepreneurs have demonstrated their capacity to build world-class companies despite existing policy challenges.

“You have proven what Nigerian talent can do alone. Imagine what it can do with a government on its side,” the former vice-president said.

Atiku explained that the proposed measures would help young companies overcome early-stage challenges and enable them to contribute more to economic growth and innovation.
