The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has been told by the Abuja-based Court of Appeal to immediately end its ongoing strike action.

The federal government was brought before the court by ASUU, which has been on strike since February 14, 2022, after the National Industrial Court (NIC) ordered an end to the strike action.

In its decision on the appeal on Friday, October 7, the court stated that the union’s request would only be granted if its members immediately called off their strike while the merits of the substantive lawsuit were being resolved.

Following ASUU’s compliance with the lower court’s decision, the court gave them seven days to file their appeal.
