The Maiduguri Zonal Commander of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Assistant Commander of the EFCC, ACE II Shuaibu Umar has reiterated the resolve of the Commission to deepen the existing relationship, collaboration and synergy with the National Youth Service Corps in the fight against economic and financial crimes.
He stated this on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, during a courtesy visit to the Borno State Coordinator of the NYSC, at the Federal Secretariat, Maiduguri. Umar who was accompanied on the visit by Jonson Ojogbane, Deputy Director, Legal and Prosecution, said his presence is aimed at strengthening the existing relationships and synergy with the NYSC.
“The sensitization activities carried out by the NYSC/EFCC Anti-corruption Community Development Group in secondary schools, market places, religious institutions and Anti-corruption Road Walk Campaigns is a welcome development and there is the need for proper re-orientation amongst the youth to check the get rich syndrome”, Umar said.
Further stated that fighting corruption is not the work of the EFCC alone, that all hands must be on deck in order to achieve the mandate of the Commission of ridding Nigeria of all economic and financial crimes.
In his remarks, the State Coordinator, Nura Umar promised to ensure that the EFCC achieved its mandate through continued collaboration.
In a related development, the Ag. Commander, Sokoto Zonal Command of the EFCC, ACE Aliyu Yunusa has also called for enhanced cooperation and collaboration between the EFCC and the NYSC in fighting economic and financial crimes. He stated this during a working visit to the NYSC State Secretariat today Tuesday, 7th June, 2022.
According to the Ag. Commander, “the NYSC has been and remains a critical partner to the EFCC in the execution of its mandate of ridding Nigeria of economic and financial crimes.
“Since the EFCC cannot fight these twin monsters alone, the NYSC whenever called upon has made available a steady supply of educated young men and women with the desire to serve this country wholeheartedly” he added.
Responding, the Sokoto State NYSC Coordinator, Muhammad Nakamba assured the EFCC of his Scheme’s readiness to continue to partner with the EFCC in the fight against corruption.
