Allged N110bn Fraud: Court Adjourns Yahaya Bello’s Trial to November 12

Justice Maryann Anenih of the Federal Capital Territory(FCT High Court, Maitama Thursday adjourned the hearing in the trial of former Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello, and two others for alleged N110 billion fraud till November 12.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arraigned Bello alongside Umar Oricha and Abdulsalami Hudu on a 16-count charge of fraud.

At the resumed hearing, the EFCC called its fifth witness, Victoria Oluwafemi, a compliance officer with Polaris Bank.

The witness told the court the total credit to the account in question, which came from different senders, saying that the transfers from the account were in multiples of ₦10 million.

he said the total credit in November 2021 was ₦450 million.

Oluwafemi, who was cross-examined by Bello’s counsel Joseph Daudu (SAN), admitted that she was not the accounts officer for the two accounts in the bank.

The Sixth Prosecution Witness (PW6), Mshelia Arhyel, was also called for cross-examination.

The judge, thereafter, adjourned the matter till November 12 for further cross-examination of PW6.
