Alleged Examination Malpractices: Council of Legal Education Dismisses Principal Data Processing Officer Odeh, 2 Others

Three employees of the Nigerian Law School personnel have been cleared for immediate dismissal by the Council of Legal Education for violating para. 5.04.9 of the Law School’s condition of service by engaging in examination misconduct during the May 2022 Bar final (resit) examination.

According to sources with knowledge of the situation, the Council adopted the proposal for dismissal at its final meeting on November 16, 2022, following months of inquiry and investigation by the Staff Disciplinary Committee of the Law School.

The three defendants, Mr. Gibson Uzodinma, Mrs. Precious Chika Nwachukwu, and Mr. Idoko Odeh, were charged with varying levels of exam misconduct.

The duo of Nwachukwu and Uzodinma were accused of facilitating and receiving payment for the exchange of a student passport belonging to a candidate named Wobo Prince Adele-Owhor in order to allow one Mr. Godknows Aliegbulam Wodo to take the resit exam for Benjamin Kayode Orekoya. While Odeh, a principal data processing officer with the Nigerian Law School, was accused of reproducing a student identity card for Mr Pascal Bekongfe Aboh, a lawyer.

Additionally, it was revealed that the NBA President, Y.C Maikyau, the Dean of law at Usman Danfodio University, Prof. Rufai Muftau, the Attorney General of Kogi state Ibrahim Sani Muhammed, SAN, the Attorney General of Katsina State, Mrs Asmau Mukhtar, and the Council Secretary, Mrs. E.O. Max-Uba, among others, were all present at the Council meeting.
