In recent months, we have kept you informed about the latest updates concerning the NBA Annual General Conference (AGC) 2024. We are pleased to present a comprehensive recap of the event, which proved to be a remarkable success with a variety of activities, discussions, and networking opportunities.
The conference kicked off smoothly with delegate registration from August 23 to August 26, 2024, at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS). The registration desks operated from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily, facilitating a seamless process. The Jumaat Prayers held during this period were well-attended, with participants offering prayers for the profession and its members.
On August 24, the conference featured a Health Walk and Tree Planting event that began at 7:00 a.m., starting from TBS and concluding at Onikan Stadium. This was followed by the President’s Cup Quarter Finals at Onikan Stadium, showcasing high levels of competitive spirit. Later in the day, the Pre-Conference National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting took place at the Nigerian Law School Auditorium in Victoria Island, leading up to the Chief Judge of Lagos State Welcome Cocktail, which set a welcoming tone for the ongoing conference.
Sunday, August 25, started with a Thanksgiving Service at the Cathedral Church of Christ, Marina. This was followed by a Young Lawyers’ Introductory Session at Eko Hotel, offering valuable insights for newcomers. The Opening Ceremony at Eko Hotel & Suites Convention Centre was a grand event, and the President officially opened the Friendship Centre later in the evening at the Tafawa Balewa Square Marquee. The Friendship Centre was vibrant with activities, including games, open mic sessions, and karaoke.
The activities on August 26 began with the Opening Plenary at Eko Hotel, featuring engaging discussions and a keynote speech from the Former President of Ghana. The afternoon featured Breakout Sessions on various topics and the President’s Cup Finals at Onikan Stadium, which offered thrilling matches. The day concluded with the President’s Dinner at Eko Hotel & Suites Convention Centre, highlighted by a speech from Hon. Justice Amina Augie, JSC (RTD).
The conference continued on August 27 with further Breakout Sessions exploring critical legal issues. The day ended with the UnBARred Concert at Federal Palace Hotel, providing a lively and relaxed atmosphere. The conference wrapped up on August 28 with the Sections’ Annual General Meeting (AGM) and the NBA AGM at Federal Palace Hotel.
