Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has returned to Nigeria after spending some years in exile.
His return is coming after reports that his name was removed from the Federal Government’s wanted list under the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
The Yoruba Nation activist arrived in Ibadan on Monday, where he proceeded directly to the palace of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja.
The visit represents his first major public appearance since he left Nigeria in 2021.
Confirming the development, his spokesperson, Olayomi Koiki, said: “As I’m speaking to you Chief Sunday Adeyemo is on his way to Olubadan Place.
“He should be there any moment from now.”
Koiki earlier described the moment as a historic.
“This is a moment of hope for Ibadan land and the entire Yorubaland. Chief Adeyemo is no longer being sought by government authorities and is free to return home,” Koiki said.
Igboho had been living in the Benin Republic after fleeing Nigeria following a security operation at his Ibadan residence.
