The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, has expressed support for the establishment of state police.
He said that improved security would be central to his administration if elected in 2027.
Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, stated this during a media interaction in Lagos yesterday, where he also described President Bola Tinubu as his political father and commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for his administration’s achievements.
The APC candidate said he would continue with policies and projects of the Abiodun-led administration that he considered beneficial to the state and make changes in areas where he believed improvements were required.
He said his administration would prioritise infrastructure and urban development as part of efforts to expand economic activities across Ogun State.
According to him, the state needs to develop infrastructure that would make it more attractive for people who currently work in Ogun but reside in Lagos.
Adeola said Ogun should aspire to have a development relationship with Lagos similar to that between New Jersey and New York in the United States (U.S.)
He said his proposed administration would also pay particular attention to border communities, especially areas adjoining Lagos, as part of efforts to stimulate economic activities and improve the state’s internally generated revenue.
Adeola said the development of border towns would require attention to urban planning, fiscal planning, environmental management and infrastructure.
RELATEDLY, the Deputy Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, Hajia ‘Yemi Sowunmi-Kolapo, has said that the party’s standard-bearer, Oladipupo Adebutu, would prioritise workers’ welfare if voted into office next year.
She spoke during the retirement reception organised in honour of a retired Deputy Superintendent of Traffic (DST), Mrs Anifat Bello, held in Obantoko, Abeokuta.
Sowunmi- Kolapo described Bello’s commitment to duty as rare and worthy of emulation.
The PDP deputy governorship candidate, who hailed the retired traffic warden, popularly known as Aunty Anifat, for her professionalism, discipline, resilience and dedication to traffic management during her years of service with Ogun State Police Command, said the honour was the beginning of greater things to happen in the retired officer’s life, urging other personnel of the security agents and indeed, all workers, to emulate Bello’s outstanding service to the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
Meanwhile, Adebutu’s wife, while showering more encomiums on the retired officer, announced another N500,000 cash support for her, saying she will be part of the administration once Adebutu is voted into power in 2027.
