ADC Slams FG for Misinterpreting WTO Chief’s Economic Remarks

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has criticized the Federal Government for selectively highlighting comments made by World Trade Organization (WTO) Director-General, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, about Nigeria’s economy, while ignoring her urgent call for action.

In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC accused government officials and their media allies of fixating on Okonjo-Iweala’s remark that the administration had “stabilized the economy.” The party argued that this focus overshadowed her more pressing demand for policies to spur economic growth and establish social safety nets for millions of Nigerians grappling with the impacts of government reforms.

The ADC described the government’s response as indicative of a leadership “in desperate need of validation” rather than one committed to addressing critical economic challenges. The party urged the Federal Government to prioritize actionable solutions to alleviate the hardships faced by citizens.
