ADC Inaugurates Constitution Review Committee

The African Democratic Congress has inaugurated the party’s Constitution Review Committee, saying the review is crucial to strengthening the party and preparing it for future leadership. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, National Chairman ADC National Chairman Senator David Mark said the exercise is aimed at updating the party’s constitution to reflect present realities, address emerging challenges, and align with global best practices in Democratic Party administration.

He noted that the review is not intended to alter the party’s founding principles, but to reinforce them by improving clarity, fairness, inclusiveness, and accountability within the party’s structures and processes. According to the ADC chairman, the outcome of the exercise will provide a stronger framework that empowers party members, promotes unity, ensures fair dispute resolution, and positions the ADC as a credible alternative for national leadership ahead of the 2027 general elections.

David Mark also charged members of the Constitution Review Committee, selected for their experience, integrity, and commitment to the party’s ideals, to carry out their assignment with open minds, wide consultations, and a firm commitment to the collective interest of the party. He urged the committee to engage party members at all levels, uphold the ADC’s founding values, and deliver a constitution that strengthens internal democracy, enhances discipline, and guarantees transparency in party affairs.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Constitution Review Committee of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Efigwe Nwa, assured party members that the committee is fully committed to delivering a comprehensive and forward-looking review of the party’s constitution. Speaking on the assignment, Nwa said the review is aimed at strengthening internal democracy, enhancing accountability and transparency, and improving the efficiency of party administration.
