The federal government has guaranteed the public that the railway service between Abuja and Kaduna will resume operations in less than two weeks.

The announcement was made on Thursday in Ibadan at the railway station in Moniya by the minister of transportation, Mu’azu Jaji Sambo.

It was Sambo’s first inspection trip to the 157-km standard gauge railway between Lagos and Ibadan.

The minister gave the assurance that all necessary measures had been taken to ensure the security on board the train as well as the safety of all national rail passengers.

Sambo added that the federal government would improve security on the railway corridors.

“It is not necessary for me to share that date publicly, I don’t think that will help in running the service.

“Nigerians are interested in the service, in less than two weeks, before the month is over, so just be patient”, he stated.
