Former China National Petroleum Chairman Named in Corruption Probe

Caixin GlobalWang Yilin, the former Chairman of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), has been arrested by the Supreme People’s Procuratorate (SPP) on suspicion of bribery.

According to the SPP, Wang’s case has been handed over to prosecutors for further examination and will be prosecuted upon completion of an investigation by the National Commission of Supervision.

In a related development, Wang was expelled from the Communist Party of China in late July, as announced in an official statement.
