The management of the late Nigerian musician, Ilerioluwa Promise Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has taken legal action against his father, Mr. Joseph Aloba, filing a N200 million defamation suit. This move comes after Mohbad’s father claimed in a recent interview that his 26-year-old son had left behind a thumbprint-only will that lacked a signature.
Mohbad’s management countered this allegation in a statement, dismissing the purported will as unprecedented and unreal. The situation has now escalated, leading to legal repercussions for Mohbad’s father at the hands of the management team.
In an official letter, the management has called on Mohbad’s father to retract what they deem as “slanderous” remarks and issue a public apology. Additionally, they are seeking N200 million in damages as part of the resolution process.
“You are to publish same unqualified apology…within 14 days of this letter with payment of N200,000,000 (Two hundred Million Naira) through this honourable chambers (Bankole Falade & Co) within the set period,” the notice read in part.
